Frequently Asked Questions about Baptism
Q - Do I have
to be a parishioner at St. Francis Church in order to have my child
baptized?
A - You need to be a
registered parishioner for at least two months.
Q - When are the Baptism
Classes?
A - Baptism classes meet on the last
Monday of every month except during Lent. If you would like your child
baptized, you need to attend this class. However, some classes may be
changed due to holidays. Please consult the Master Calendar for dates and
times of classes.
Q - When are the Baptisms
done at St. Francis Church?
A - Baptisms are conducted on the second
Saturday of the month. Please consult the Master Calendar for dates and
times.
Q - I’ve already attended a
baptism class for my previous children. Do I have to attend another one?
A - If you attended a class here at St. Francis
Church within the past two years, then No.
Q - Do Both Godparents have
to be Catholic?
A - No. Please contact Sr. Katherine for more
information regarding this question.
Q - Do The Godparents have to
be registered parishioners at St. Francis Church?
A - No. However, they need to be members
of a parish. We will need a letter of membership from their pastor.
Q - I have a child who is 8
years old that I would like to have baptized. Is this too old?
A - No one is too old to
be baptized. However, 8 years and up require a different type of classes.
