ALTAR SERVERS

Boys and girls in grades 3-12 are invited to serve at weekend Masses. They have a training session before they serve.  A special thank you treat of a fun field trip event is offered at some point during the year.

ARTS AND ENVIRONMENT

Help beautify the church environment inside and outside at different seasons during the year.  Duties include decorating for the major liturgical seasons as well as spring and fall cleanups and spring planting.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD LEADERS

Teach children about God’s Word in a meaningful way. During the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Masses, catechists help children explore the Gospel message in an age appropriate fashion and help them understand ways they can live out the teachings of Jesus.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF THE EUCHARIST

Receive training and ongoing support to understand the privilege and responsibility of assisting clergy (ordinary ministers of the Eucharist) in the distribution of the precious Body and Blood of Christ during weekend liturgies. Once trained, ministers are scheduled according to Mass attendance preference.

EXTRAORDINARY EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS TO THE CONFINED

Bring the Eucharist to the faithful who cannot attend Mass and partake in this very rewarding ministry. Parish ministers go in pairs to Munson Hospital, Bortz Nursing Home, and to the homebound. Ministers meet occasionally for updates and receive instructions when they begin serving. Communion services are offered at Bortz on Thursdays and at Hillview on Tuesday.

GIFT BEARERS

Members of the congregation  represent the entire assembly by taking up the bread and wine in procession during the presentation of gifts. Our gifts of bread and wine – representing all aspects of our lives – are united to our High Priest Jesus’ offering of himself to the Father which takes place during the Eucharistic prayer.

GREETERS

Families and/or parishioners of all ages are invited to help hand out the worship aids as people enter church. This is also an excellent opportunity to greet and welcome folks and express Saint Francis hospitality to members and visitors alike. A minimum of two greeters are needed for each Mass, and all that is required is to arrive a half hour early and bring a warm, positive attitude.

LECTORS

Lectors are ministers who are trained and then scheduled to proclaim God’s Word at Mass in a reverent and effective way. Their demeanor reflects their sacred role as the conveyors of God’s Holy Word to His people.

USHERS

Share your hospitable, welcoming spirit with others as you serve as an usher ministering at the particular Mass you usually attend. Ushers hold doors, assist people to find seats and make sure that the communion call is orderly. In general, they help assure liturgical celebrations function smoothly.
